The most widely used proxy standard marker in surgery is still the incidence of postoperative complications.
Even then, the perception of complications in surgery still lacks standardization, hampering the perception of
surgical success and quality assessment. There are surgical as well as implant complications. The purpose of
this review is to recognize the complications of post-operative orthopedic surgery. We have explored all
potential problems here in this study. Anemia, superficial and deep wound infection, UTI, implant reduction
failure and deep venous thrombosis are some of them. These complications lead to increased length of stay,
readmission and sometimes reoperation. Post-operative anemia is one of the key risks associated with knee
and hip arthroplasty, as blood loss is the leading cause. Pre-operative anemia is also considered here as it is
one of the major risk factors for some of the risks. So, we will see how this anemic disorder is been handled in
this review as well.
