Abstract: The purpose of this study was to determine the potential of honey on the regeneration of rat (Rattus norvegicus) testicular tissue due to nutrient deficiency through protein expression of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF). A total of 24 male white rats with body weigh 250-300 grams, were divided into four groups. Negative control (C-) was a group of normal rats, the condition was not fasted and without honey. Positive control (C+) was a group of rats fasting for 5 days (nutritional deficiency) and without being given honey. The treatment group was a group of rats were fasted for 5 days and given honey therapy at a dose of 30% (T1) and 50% (T2) for 10 days. This research was conducted for 76 days, then the white rats were sacrificed and the testes were taken and observed for tissue regeneration. The results showed that the score immunohistochemical (IHC) of VEGF was a significant difference (P<0.05) between T2 and C+ and T1, and then although T2 was still significantly different from C- (P<0.05). Score IHC of C-, C +, T1 and T2 are sequently 9.6d?0.44, 0.41a? 0.22, 2.5b ± 0.25 and 6.0c?0.50. The conclusion of this study is that honey has the potential to regenerate the testicular tissue of white rats that are deficient in nutrition through mobilization of endogenous stem cells in the form of VEGF protein expression.
