Corona virus belongs to the subfamily orthocoronavirinae, family, coronaviridae and order nidovirales. On the basis of genetic properties they belong to four genera including genus Alphacoronavirus, genus Betacoronavirus, genus Gammacoronavirus and genus Deltacoronavirus. Coronavirus are of various types. This group of coronavirus originated in 1930’s. Out of these only 7 coronavirus are considered to infect humans as sometimes mutation in the virus occurs and it becomes harmful. Usually transmission from animals to human is not possible but mutation in virus allows binding to human protein. Four out of seven , 229E and OC43, corona virus and serotypes NL63 and HUK1 cause common cold while the remaining three which includes SARS (Severe acute respiratory syndrome), MERS (Middle East respiratory syndrome) and SARS-2(Severe acute respiratory syndrome or COVID-19) cause severe pneumonia outbreak which are commonly known as betacoronavirus and are referred to as zoonotic infection. Several novel respiratory viruses like human metapneumovirus, severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) coronavirus (SARS-CoV), and human coronavirus NL63 have been identified in past three years. Another coronavirus HKU1 (CoV-HKU1) is discovered from a 71-year-old man with pneumonia who returned from Shenzhen, China.
