Potential of equine chorionic gonadotropine (eCG) to improve follicular development in program of estrus synchronization and superovulation of fat tail sheep in Indonesia

Author: HERRY A.HERMADI, SUNARYO H.WARSITO, ERMA SAFITRI
Abstract: The purpose of study was evaluated potency of eCG to improve follicular development in program of estrus synchronization and superovulation of fat tail sheep in Indonesia. 18th fat tail sheep were treated using injected 7.5 mg PGF2? twice and devided into 3 groups: not injected of eCG (Control); injected of eCG 150 IU from Folligon patent-Intervet-Holland (T1) and injected of eCG from local Indonsian pregnant mare serum (T2). On the 14th day when estrus occurs, ovariectomy was performed. The ovaries obtained were made immunohistochemistry preparations to determine eCG expression as a marker of the growth of follicles. The results showed that the treatment group (T1 and T2) showed a brownish color that was clearly visible on the subordinate follicles and faded on the dominant follicles and de Graaf follicles, this result was significantly different (p <0.01) between the control with T1 and T2, but between T1 with T2 not difference (p>0.05).
