Metformin is an oral anti-hyperglycaemic drug used for treating type ? diabetes mellitus. Metformin is
available in the form of a solid dosage form in the market. A various number of instrumental methods like
Reverse Phase-High performance liquid chromatography, Liquid chromatography coupled to mass
spectrometry, and ultra-performance liquid chromatography are available to quantify the metformin either in
formulations or biological fluids namely blood or serum, or urine. To analyse metformin in a biological fluid is
challenging one it is because of enrichment of analyte from the biological fluids as well as the selection of the
proper method to estimate. Apart from the enrichment of analyte from the biological fluids, due to its polarity
is also one challenge to estimate the drug. Many others have developed and validated. We have collected the
article and reviewed the analysis of metformin in biological fluids.
