Cholinergic neurons are positive markers for the evolution of memory and other associated disorders
affecting the activity of acetylcholine esterase, dopamine, serotonin, epinephrine and norepinephrine. In this
report Hemidesmus indicus extract was found to inversionize the levels of various neurotransmitters when
administered against copper chloride and calcium fluoride and could thus be responsible for improving
learning, memory, cognition and motor functions. This study also reports brain alterations in histopathological
studies that cause cognition loss and oxidation damage to the induced biochemical changes, including inhibition
of the activities of antioxidant enzymes, activation of Cucl2 microglia and exposure to CaF2. Hemidesmus
indus extract reversed the histological changes induced and mitigated the activation of the microglia. This gives
proof of the effective brain delivery of hemidesmus indus and establishes for the first time the curativetherapeutic role of hemidesmus indicus, such as symptoms and cognitive losses induced in AD.
