Approaches of Chronotherapeutic Drug Delivery Systems and Its Impact on Circadian Rhythm.

Abstract: Circadian rhythms is a natural process that regulates the sleep wake cycle which is associated with several physiological, biochemical, endocrine, metabolic, behavioural processes in humans and entrainment to light- dark cycle. Chronotherapeutic drug delivery systems is a latest technology used in the treatment of biological disorders and in the treatment of circadian rhythms. The chronotherapeutic drug delivery systems and its impact on circadian rhythms is useful in treating various disease and its symptoms in therapeutic class of drugs like cardio vascular, nitrates, anti-asthmatic, anti-cholinergic, gastro intestinal, anti-cancer, non-steroidal ant inflammatory, and sleep disorder. Most of the symptoms occurs in the morning hours of the sleep cycle and chronotherapeutic drug delivery system, its formulation methods are optimistic treatment in diseased patients which is done at the night time to deliver the dose at particular time. This article summarizes the various chronotherapeutic drug delivery systems, marketed formulations along with the inactive ingredients used in the formulations, drug release mechanism, manufacturer details and its approaches, technology in focusing the diseases treating related to the circadian rhythm activity cycle.
