Phytochemical structure and Biological Effect of Ginkgo biloba leaves:A review

Abstract: Ginkgo biloba L. leaves extract has been large effects and numerous uses in Chinese medicine and wide world for hundred years, there are many a vital constituent in its leaves. Phytochemical studies found many active compounds such as, flavonoids and terpene trilactones , flavonoids consist of Quercetin, Rutin; Kaempferol, Isorhamnetin, while terpene trilactones contain ginkgolides and bilobalide,All of these substances have a variety therapeutic effect for different disease such as diabetes, cancer and alzheimer disease. It has been cleared that Ginkgo biloba leaves extract have important biological activities like anti-inflammation, antioxidant, antitumor and neuroprotective effect. The aim of this review is shown update information about isolation and extraction of Ginkgo biloba L. leaves(GBL) and highlight on biological activity of this plant. Researches should been launched to determine the physiology and pharmacology role of (GBL) in vivo and in vitro.
