Dental Awareness and Oral Health of Pregnant Women (Literature Review)

Author: , SHOIRA A. SODIKOVA, TULKIN E. ZOYIROV, SALIM S. DAVLATOV
Abstract: During pregnancy, the level of intensity and prevalence of dental caries and periodontal disease increases, as noted by many researchers. The level of dental knowledge is still low and is associated with social and material level, education, lack of motivation for the prevention of dental diseases and oral hygiene and other factors. Pregnancy can be the background for the occurrence of combined fungal lesions of the mucous membranes, including the oral cavity: in case of oral candidiasis in pregnant women with obstetric complications and somatic pathology, against the background of a decrease in the level of potassium and calcium ions in the oral fluid, the intensity of dental caries and the incidence of periodontal tissues increase. Thus, the improvement in oral health indicators for pregnant women who have undergone these dental prevention programs confirms their effectiveness and appropriateness.
Keyword: pregnancy, iron deficiency anemia, periodontium, pathology, pathogenesis, prevention.
