Characterization and Optimization of Biogenic Silver Nanoparticles of Ananas Comosus Peels for Antimicrobial Synergy Against Pathogenic Microbes

Author: VIKRAM KUMAR, UMESH KUMAR GILHOTRA, SUDARSHAN S LAKHAWAT, SUNIL KUMAR, SATISH KUMAR
Abstract: Nanoparticles fabrication is done by using Green synthesis because of its large applications in different field such as pharmaceutical, biomedical, food and agriculture engineering. In this paper pineapple peel extract is taken that contain alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, steroid compounds, acts as reducing and stabilizing agents. In this paper AgNPs of pineapple peel were used to confirm their antimicrobial screening, because pineapple peel contains alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, steroid biomolecules which helps in nanoparticle biosynthesis by playing the role of reducing and stabilizing agents. The characterization was completed by using the UV-visible spectrophotometer, FTIR and SEM techniques and the method optimization was done by varying the peel extract volume, silver nitrate concentrations, pH and temperature. Antimicrobial activity was evaluated by the Zone of inhibition method. The biosynthesized AgNPs produced significant antimicrobial activity against pathogenic Staphylococcus aureus, Enterococcus faecalis (a Gram-positive bacterium), Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Escherichia coli (a gram negative bacterium) and Aspergillus niger (plant pathogenic fungal strain), Candida albicans (human pathogenic fungal strain). Henceforward, this research can be acknowledged in future because silver nanoparticles of pineapple peel extract have potential significant antimicrobial activity.
