Formulation and Characterization of Piroxicam Nano Crystalline Suspension and Spray Dried Powders

Author: , SHRAVANTH S H, SHARADHA M, C.SAI KISHAN, SIDDARAMAIAH, D V GOWDA
Abstract: The research study was to develop and evaluate the Nano crystalline suspension of piroxicam that improves the dissolution rate. Piroxicam belongs to class II of BCS classification which is poorly water soluble. To improve the solubility the drug is converted in to Nano crystalline suspension form. The milling process consists of milling media and is allowed to move through the dispersion media by the planetary milling. The suspension obtained by both the process was measured by particle size using a zetasizer. The evaluation parameters like DSC, PXRD, HPLC, and in-vitro dissolution study was carried to know the interaction between the drug and excipient the drug released to the nano suspension is noted. The process followed of spraying is down streaming spray drying. The drug and stabilizer was added in an optimized form to get the physically stable suspension to get the desired particle size.
