Objective: This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of multimoda prototype traps compared to Mosquito Killer BG-360 and Photocatalyst Mosquito & Fly traps.
Methods: Tests were conducted in a 16 m2 closed room on the effectiveness of multimoda traps (carbon dioxide+lactic acid+acoustics+UV rays) compared to Mosquito Killer BG-360 traps (UV rays) and Photocatalyst Mosquito & Fly traps (TiO2+UV light and heat) with 600 female Aedes aegypti mosquitoes aged 3-5 days. Data were analyzed with general linear model and post hoc (Bonferroni) tests.
Results: The most effective were Multimoda traps followed by Photocatalyst Mosquito & Fly and Mosquito Killer BG-360 traps. Post hoc Test with paired wise comparisons showed differences in the number of dead/trapped mosquitoes between the 1st, 2nd, and 24th hour.
Conclusion: Multimoda traps are more effective than Photocatalyst Mosquito & Fly and Mosquito Killer BG-360 traps and can be an alternative in developing traps for the control of Aedes aegypti mosquito populations.
