Response of blood groups to COVID-19 infection

Author: , TAMER I. ABDEL-WAHAB, SHERIF I. ABDEL-WAHAB, EMAN I. ABDEL-WAHAB, MANAL M.ADEL
Abstract: There is an urgent requirement for studying the relation between COVID-19 infection and the blood groups to detect the route of extension and pathogenesis to COVID-19 control. When the level of iron in the blood groups is higher than the normal level, this would be led to negative effects not only on a disorder of furin protease but also on the cellular activity of red blood cells (RBCs) and plasma enzymes to enhance viral assembly and budding. The blood group AB that characterize by proteins on the RBC surface allows COVID-19 to penetrate the human cell more than the other groups, indicating most people of this group are highly susceptible to COVID-19 infection that may reach death in a shorter time than patients of the other groups.
