Dental fear and their effect on their behaviour during the dental treatment among children.

Abstract:

Introduction:
Behaviour management is a major challenge that affects the quality of dental treatment in paediatric Dentistry. Dental fear and anxiety is commonly associated with behaviour management difficulties in achieving a successful dental treatment for children.
Materials and methods
The Study was carried among 6-12 year old children who came for treatment in Saveetha Dental College. Each child was asked to independently complete a Children's Fear Survey for [Dental Sub scale (CFSS-DS) Questionnaire]
Behaviour during the dental treatment was also assessed. Correlation of dental fear and behaviour during treatment was assessed.
Results
Conclusion
Children who reported having dental fearful were 1.8 times likely to exhibit negative behaviour during dental treatment compared to children who were not fearful.
