The buccal cavity is a best site for either mucosal or transmucosal administration of drug. The point is attaining
to the target site of a specific release. The drug involvement across the mucosal barrier to arrive to the blood
circulation. Absorption across the mucosa overcome untimely drug degradation due to the enzyme activity
and pH of the GT tract, avoid active drug destroy due to pre-systemic elimination, acid hydrolysis and amount
of drug are given volume of plasma concentration of drug can be quickly attain. The molecular attractive force
at the interfacial surface of biological and natural or synthetic polymers was defined as the Bioadhesion, it
recongnize the polymers to attach to the biological membrane for a longer period. Advantage-Buccal drug
delivery bypasses the presystemic elimination via hepatic which enhances the oral bioavailability of the drug.
The main disadvantages are with the Oral drug delivery such as liver presystemic elimination and enzymatic
degradation within the GI tract, that forbid buccal delivery of other categories of drugs mostly proteins with
peptide.
