Abstract:

Rheumatism is all condition that is accompanied by joint pain and stiffness in the musculoskeletal system. Rheumatic disease is often also called arthritis (inflammation of the joints) and is considered a condition that has more than 100 different types of disorders. This study used a Quasy Experiment design, where the objective was to determine the effect of warm water compresses and distraction on reducing pain in rheumatic patients. The sample size in this study was 30 respondents according to the inclusion criteria, which were divided into 3 groups, namely the warm water compress group of 10 respondents, the distraction group of 10 respondents and the control group without treatment 10 respondents. In this study using pre and post techniques. In this study, using paired t-test and Wilcoxon test. at the level of significance a = 0.05. Based on the results of the study, it was found that there was an effect of warm water compresses on reducing pain in rheumatic patients (p = 0.001), the effect of distraction on reducing pain in rheumatic patients (p = 0.000), there was no effect of the control group without treatment on reducing pain in rheumatic patients. (p = 0.343), and there was no effect of post warm water compresses and post distraction on reducing pain in rheumaticpatients(p=0.317)The conclusion in this study is that there is an effect between warm water compresses and distraction on reducing pain in patients with rheumatism. And there is no effect of the control group without treatment and warm water compresses post and post distraction on reducing pain in patients with rheumatism.
