Abstract: Chronic Energy Deficiency (CED) in women of childbearing age, to be precise at the age of 15 - 45 years may occur since adolescence which continues during pregnancy and breastfeeding. This can occur as a result of low energy and nutrient reserves. The long-term impact is anemia and low birth weight. This study aims to determine the effect of giving biscuits made from pumpkin seeds on hemoglobin (Hb) and zinc status (Zn) in pregnant women who experience chronic energy deficiency in Bone Regency, South Sulawesi. The experimental research was conducted with a pre test - post test design involving pregnant women in CED. The research subjects consisted of 22 people in the intervention group and 28 in the control group who were selected purposively. Data were analyzed using paired t-test, paired two-sample t-test, Mc.Neymar test and Chi-Square test. The results of the study found that there was an increase in mean hemoglobin levels in both groups in the pre and post test, but the increase that occurred was not statistically significant in the intervention group (p> 0.05). In contrast, a significant increase in Hb levels (p <0.05) occurred in the control group (p = 0.020). Regarding zinc status (Zn), based on the results of the study, there was no change in zinc status before and after the intervention, both in the intervention group and the control group (p> 0.05). Referring to the results obtained from the study, it can be concluded that there is no effect of pumpkin seed biscuits on hemoglobin levels and zinc status of pregnant women who suffer from chronic energy deficiency.
