Author: SIDDHARTHAN S, NYI NYI NAING, NADIAH WAN-ARFAH, ALI A ASSIRY, ABDUL HABEEB ADIL
Abstract: Prevalence of dental related conditions in India has become a big problem in every states of India. Community health Centre plays a vital role act to enhance oral health, due to less availability of instruments, materials and equipment they lack in full operation in India to provide dental treatment. Spending for health sector by the Indian government is considered the least in the world when compared with the private sector which being the highest. There is no individual allocation of budget for oral health in health budget of maximum states. Maximum amount of funds that have been allocated for health sector must be used to provide primary healthcare to the rural population. The allocation of funds to oral health services is not adequate after spending the major amount of funds to general health which becomes a barrier to provide a better oral health service. Thus, Indian government should consider reassessing the oral health policy which is being practices now to provide better oral health service to the population of India. Dentist and people percentage is too low in the rural region. From this review we would like to point out the necessity for a broad study that can stress to provide a better oral health policy to remove the disparity of dentist and patient ratio in urban and rural population and to stress the good understanding of importance of oral health services.
