Brain tumor is caused mainly due to uncontrolled cell divisions and abnormality in the cells. It is essential to detect tumor in the early phase so that it will be useful for diagnosis and treatment of tumor. Basically volume for any object or the image is calculated using the area. In the same way volume of the tumor region is calculated by means of tumor area. Tumor volume is used for analyzing the progression of tumor and for acquiring the need for changes to be done in the treatment plans. BRATS dataset was used for analyzing the performance of the system. The system is designed in the way such that first preprocessing step is carried out to enhance the input image, then feature extraction, Segmentation and classification is carried out. Finally after classifying the tumor, volume of the tumor region is calculated using volume of ellipsoid formula. Volume of ellipsoid is used to calculate the tumor region, because most of the tumors are in hemisphere or ellipsoid shape. The proposed system provides better accuracy and helps the doctors to predict tumors accurately.
