Abstract: The objective of this research is to obtain the SLS surfactant bagasse phase behavior that can be utilized as injection fluid in the Enhanced Oil Recovery process. SLS surfactant bagasse is a synthetic surfactant made from bagasse through the process of lignin isolation and sulfonation. Before being used as injection fluid in the process of Enhanced Oil Recovery, the SLS surfactant must be tested for compatibility, so that the surfactant's compatibility with the crude oil will be known. One of the tests conducted is a phase behavior test to determine microemulsion stability. In this study, using 4 samples of light crude oil that has different Carbon numbers, namely light crude oil C (Carbon number 14), light crude oil E (Carbon number 15), light crude oil Tr (Carbon number 18) and light crude oil Tp (Carbon number 8). SLS surfactant bagasse itself has a Carbon number 11. The results show that the light crude oil Tp which has a Carbon number is smaller than the SLS Surfactant Carbon number, forming microemulsion stability faster than the light crude oil C, E and Tr which have Carbon numbers more than the SLS surfactant Carbon number. Based on the results of this study it can be concluded that the formation of microemulsion stability will be influenced by the Carbon number both on SLS surfactant and Carbon number crude oil that will be used.
