Background and Aim: Anaesthesiology residents with diverse personality types represent all of their behaviours. Their high level of depression and anxiety can potentially affect their work performance and service. This present study aimed to investigate the correlation of personality types with depression and anxiety in the anaesthesiology residents.
Methods: We conducted a questionnaire-based cross sectional study in anaesthesiology residents in July 2020. The data were analyzed statistically using simple linear regression and multiple linear regression tests for bivariate and multivariate analyses, respectively. A p-value less than 0,05 was considered statistically significant.
Results: There were 46 anaesthesiology residents meeting our conclusion criteria. Multivariate analysis revealed positive correlation with depression (p = 0.036 and p = 0.002, respectively) as well as anxiety (p = 0.045 and p = 0.004, respectively).
Conclusion: In anaesthesiology residents, personality types in term of extrovert and neurotic correlate significantly with depression and anxiety.
