The objective of this study is to assess the antibacterial effect of liquid smoke rice hull on Porphyromonas gingivalis and its proliferative effects on osteoblast. LS-RH was obtained from the pyrolysis process and was diluted by sterile water for make concentration 1%, 2.5%, 5%, 7.5%, 10%, 12.5%, 15% and 17.5%. The antibacterial effect on Porphyromonas gingivalis was assessed with standard dilution and diffusion methods. The proliferative effect was assessed with viability of osteoblast using MTT assay. The highest viability of osteoblast was analyzed in LS-RH concentration 1% (88.83%). The other LS-RH concentration 2.5%, 5%, 7.5%, 10%, 12.5% and 100% showed the viability more than 60%. The LS-RH concentration 10% was the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) and LS-RH concentration 12.5% was the minimum bactericidal concentration (MBC). The LS-RH showed proliferative effect on osteoblast on concentration 1% and showed the antibacterial in the concentration 12.5%. As this condition, the LS-RH is promising as periodontal remedies.
