Medical imaging is a significant and important tool in the analysis and decision making for health professionals. Confidentiality and safety of medical images have fully-fledged meaningfully with cumulative drift of evidence transaction over the public network. Cryptography is utilized as a fruitful system to safe-guard the image data from illegal access. Taking into Consideration the diverse characteristics of different medical imaging modalities different encryption methodologies are presented precisely in works during past few years. These crypto-graphic rules are deficient in benchmarking for assessment of their performance, security and eminence analy-sis of recuperated images. In this revision, we have given a detailed overview on the different imaging modali-ties and the cryptographic techniques used on the medical images for security purpose. Wide-range of litera-ture survey have been made to categorize all the parameters used by diverse investigators to assess their sys-tems.
