This article gives an idea of syringomyelia at the modern level, the etiological moments of which are Chiari malformations, degenerative changes in the spine (herniated discs, kyphosis, scoliosis), consequences of ischemic stroke, trauma, etc. The pathogenetic mechanisms of the onset of syringomyelia are considered to be the appearance of syringes as the main mechanism for the formation and development of this nosology. Taking into account the latest data, syringomyelia is not a monoetiological disease, but a disease with many factors that predispose to the onset and development of the disease.
