This article provides data on MRI diagnostics of syringomyelia associated with Chiari malformation. The review contains clinical data on the nosological unit, the existence of pathological symptoms observed in syringomyelia, as well as autonomic disorders. Since pain is the main and structural component of this disease, sufficient attention is paid to the cause of pain as an etiopathogenetic mechanism of the onset and development of syringomyelia. Since with syringomyelia, cranial nerves can also be affected and the corresponding symptomatology of pain will occur, according to the place of innervation of this nerve, which determines the severity and outcome of the disease.
