Handwriting is integral part in academics and it is a mode of communication for majority of children and adults. It engages a complex skill of perceptual-motor skill and depends on the integration of cognitive, perceptual, and motor skills. The current study aims in examination of the relationship between visual motor integration and handwriting skills in English speaking Indian children and children of age group 4 to 6 were included. Typically developing children from primary schools were selected and assessed for visual motor integration and handwriting skill. Performance of VMI and HS tasks were improved as the age of the child increases. It is also made clear that as the child age increases, the duration for completion of task decreases. Copying lines was the predictor of the acquisition of skills like copying letters, words and numbers. Reliability and validity of handwriting skill assessment battery was found to be in question for Indian children as visual motor integration is an important pre-requisite for Tamil and English handwriting skill.
