Author: GANAPATHY SANKAR.U, MONISHA.R, R.PRASANNA
Abstract: The current study aims in the analysis of the efficient parenting programme and parent education programme for children with developmental coordination disorder. The effects of happy parenting programme on Indian primary school children were evaluated. We have used randomized trial design and there is no blinding of the participants and the researcher. Children included in the study were randomly segregated into two groups, where group A is the intervention group were the children were delivered with happy parenting programme by educational psychologist and the control group received a parental talk. Participants were instructed to complete the questionnaire on observing and recollecting the child’s behavior and they were requested to fill in the questionnaires on their parenting stress and what are the strategies used at home. The results of the current study suggest that there is a significant improvement in child’s problem and their behavior in the intervention group. Parent education programme provides promising improvement and the happy parenting program for Indian primary school children with developmental coordination disorder is highly imperative.
