Awareness About The Effect Of Ocean Warming On Marine Species

Author: SNEKA.S , R.GAYATRI DEVI
Abstract: Ocean absorbs most of the excess heat from greenhouse gas emissions, leading to rise in ocean temperature affecting marine species and ecosystems. The main reason for ocean warming is that ocean warming is getting hotter and also changes in water temperature can affect the environment. The main aim of this study was to determine the awareness level of the effect of ocean warming on marine species. A cross sectional questionnaire study was carried out, with an online link shared to 100 people. The questionnaire consisted of questions related to the effect on ocean warming on global species. Impacts of ocean warming was 57.43% due to ocean currents. 29.70% of them answered due to waves 12.87% of them answered tides. The factors which affect marine life. 22.77% of them answered that it is because of rise in temperature and 26.73% of them answered it is because of ocean current and 13.86% of them answered it is because of chemical balance 36.63% of them answered all of the above. This study helps to create awareness about the effect of ocean warming in marine species.
