Oral cancer occurs in both males and females. In older age, it affects females more than males. In the younger
generation it affects the males. Gender specific risk for oral cancer are the hormonal features that provide
defence. The aim is to evaluate the progression of oral cancer in a private college through recurrence and
metastasis according to gender. Data samples required for study were taken from hospital records. All the
collected data were cross verified and compiled together in an excel sheet. Compiled data were statistically
analysed with help of SPSS software. In this study, a total of 51 patients had oral cancer and had undergone
treatment. Higher percentage of patients reported back with no recurrence of 74.51%. More males had
recurrence compared to female patients with p value of 0.025. Within the limitations, it is significant that the
majority of patients who had recurrence of oral cancer were males compared to females.
