Author: SITI HAMIDAH, BHISMA MURTI, HARSONO SALIMO, SRI MULYANI
Abstract: Objective: Breast milk plays a role in developing initial white matter and brain control, thereby effectively increasing children's cognitive understanding of child development. Exclusive breastfeeding in Indonesia and other countries has not covered the target of 70%. This study aims to determine the effect of the religion-based health promotion model on (1) breastfeeding practice. (2) exclusive breastfeeding. (3) stimulation of the development of infants of 3-6 months old. Methods: This study is an observational analytic study with a retrospective design, conducted from April 2019 to January 2020. The sample consisted of 105 pregnant women> 38 weeks (exposed areas), and 105 pregnant women> 38 weeks (unexposed areas); they were determined by cluster sampling. The study's dependent variables were exclusive breastfeeding and stimulation of development of infants of 3-6 months old. The study's independent variables were attitude, breastfeeding practice, expressing breastfeeding practice, parity, knowledge, ANC, age, and education. Data collection: data were collected using a questionnaire and observation sheet. Data analysis: data were analyzed using path analysis test with Stata 13. Results: The religion-based health promotion model has a positive effect and there is a direct relationship between attitude (b = 1.60; 95% CI = -0.07 to 3.28; p = 0.060) and breastfeeding practice (b = 2.67; 95% CI = 0.72 to 4.61; p = 0.007) to exclusive breastfeeding. There is a direct relationship between attitude and stimulation of development of infants of 3-6 months old (b = 5.63; 95% CI = 4.51 to 6.81; p <0.001). There was a direct relationship between attitudes (b = 3.98; 95% CI = 1.57 to 6.40; p = 0.001), expressing breast milk (b = 4.60; 95% CI = 2.56 to 6.64; p <0.001), parity (b = 2.39; CI 95% = -4.80 to 0.03; p = 0.053) to the breastfeeding practice. There is an indirect relationship between the practice of expressing breast milk and parity with exclusive breastfeeding. There is an indirect relationship between knowledge, ANC and mother's age to the exclusive breastfeeding and stimulation of development of infants of 3-6 months old. Conclusion: There is a direct relationship between attitude with exclusive breastfeeding and stimulation of development of infants of 3 - 6 months old. There is a direct relationship between the practice of breastfeeding and exclusive breastfeeding.
