Consumption of Ginger Reduces Menstrual Pain in Young Women

Abstract: Background: The incidence of dysminorrhea in female adolescents in Lampung Province is 42.56%, in Pesawaran District, 13.05%. Based on the results of the pre-survey in February 2017 at SMAN 2 Padang Cermin there are 25 young women who have experienced menarche and of the 25 young women 18 (72%) of them often experience menstrual disorders ranging from mild pain to severe pain. Purpose: This study was to analyzed the effect of ginger consumption on the reduction of menstrual pain in young women at SMAN 2 Padang Cermin. Methods: Quantitative Research Type, quasi-experimental research design with one group pretest-posttest approach. The population of all young women in SMA N 2 Padang Cermin is 146 people. A sample of 15 people with inclusion criteria. Age 11-20 years old girls, already menarche and not married, willing to be research respondents, not yet willing to not take pain relievers and young women who experience menstrual pain. With the sampling technique, namely purposive sampling. The data obtained were analyzed using the T-test. Results: The results showed that the average pain before intervention was 6.67, after intervention was 4.53. It is known that there is an effect of ginger consumption on the reduction of menstrual pain in female adolescents at SMA N 2 Padang Cermin in 2017. The T- test results obtained p value 0.000
