Fever occurs due to the inability of the heat loss mechanism to compensate for excess body heat production, increasing body temperature. Tepid sponging therapy is an alternative in treating fever. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of giving warm compresses and water tepid sponge to reduce the temperature in children in the nursery. This type of quantitative research with a quasi-experimental approach. Subjects in the study were child clients who had a fever, with the object of body temperature. The study population numbered 100 patients and a sample of 30 people. Data collection using the observation sheet. The place of research was conducted at Bumi Waras Hospital, Bandarlampung. Data analysis was univariate and bivariate with the Kolmogorov Smirnov test assumption. The results showed that the average temperature before the warm compress was 38.4 ° C after the warm compress was 37.5 ° C. The average temperature value before water tepid sponge is 38.6oC and after water tepid sponge is 37.3oC. There is an effect between before and after warm compresses with a mean difference of 0.85oC (p-value 0.001). There is an effect before and after water tepid sponge with a mean difference of 1.36oC (p-value 0.001). There is a difference between a warm compress and a water tepid sponge, which is 0.25 0C. It is recommended that parents give water tepid sponge to their children who have fever or fever seizures before reaching further health services. Whereas for children who refuse to give a tepid sponge, giving warm compresses can be given as a substitute.
