The process of surface modification in the aqueous dispersions of hydrophilic inorganic nanoparticles of titanium dioxide and hydrophobic nanoparticles of carbon synthesized by plasma in liquid medium under the action of intensive ultrasonic cavitation and stabilized by specially tailor-made copolymers was studied. The particle surface modification by the above polymers was achieved by conventional adsorption and by mechanical (ultrasonic) action. The effect of mechanical treatment of the particle dispersion by ultrasonic power alone or in combination with surface-active polymers was also investigated. The efficiency of the particle surface coating by the polymer was followed by the ESA method. Data obtained enabled to make some conclusions about parameters of polymer adsorption layers.
