Cooperation of a child during dental treatment is vital to render successful and high quality treatment. Effective communication is important and is a big challenge in the dental office. TSD technique mostly used by the dentist to gain the trust of child patients. However various methods options have been described in literature to ensure proper communication with children and help in achieving proper treatment. Main objective of behavioural management is to established communication with child, gain child confidence and acceptance of dental treatment, promote child positive attitude towards dental health and help in build a trusting relationship between dentist and child. Behavioural shaping can be defined as the procedure which slowly develops behaviour by reinforcing a successive approximation of desired behaviour until the desired behaviour comes into being. It states the general goal or task to the child at the outset, explains the necessity for the procedure, and gives all explanations at the child's level of understanding.
