Intercondylar notch also known as intercondylar fossa is situated between two round prominences (medial condyle and lateral condyle) in the knee in the distal part of the femur bone or thigh bone. Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) tear is one the most common injuries of the intercondylar notch. Comprehension of the standard morphometric details of femoral intercondylar notch is vital in traumatic cases and surgical interventions. The study was conducted in the Department of Anatomy, Saveetha Dental College, Chennai. A total of 38 dry human femur bones of unknown sex were collected and evaluated. All the femur bones were serially numbered from 1 to 38. The data collected was then observed, statistically analysed and represented graphically. All the observations were presented in graphs and images. The morphometrical analysis of femoral intercondylar notch was represented in graph and it indicated that narrower intercondylar notch can lead to a high risk of ACL injuries. The study was conducted to know the morphological and morphometrical analysis of femoral intercondylar notch. This data will be useful in medico legal, orthopaedic and arthroscopic fields.
