Preference of Attire Among Dental Students in Private Dental Institution in Chennai

Abstract: Fashion is the one of the world's oldest fountains of the youth, with every new garment, one discovers a new self. Clothing affects several kinds of judgement people make. The way dresses place an important role in how one is perceived and impacts positively or negatively. The attitude of dental students towards comfort while working & professionalism plays a vital role in choosing an appropriate dress code. To assess the preference of attire among dental students in private dental institutions in Chennai. A cross sectional descriptive study conducted among private dental colleges in Chennai among the dental students. Google forms containing Questionnaire and photographs of different attires have been shared. And the final result obtained is gathered and tabulated for statistical analysis.Chi square test was performed and level of significance was set at p<0.05. Overall the results showed that students preference is towards the Scrubs (32.5%) followed by casual attire (22.5%) Then comes scrubs with white coats, cool casual, Professional informal and least preferred professional formal. The results were statistically significant with p<0.05. Overall the results showed that dental students preference is towards the Scrubs followed by casual attire and negative impact is toward the Professional informal and Professional formal.
