Abstract:

Calcium hydroxide is used for a variety of purposes in dentistry. Calcium hydroxide was introduced in dentistry in the early part of the twentieth century. The substance has a high pH, and its dental use related chiefly to its ability to stimulate mineralization. Calcium hydroxide has a wide range of antibacterial properties. A number of products has been formulated with different therapeutic actions, the effects of which are partially dependent upon the tissue when calcium hydroxide is applied. The aim of this article is to review the role of Calcium Hydroxide in dentistry.Extensive searching in pubmed, scopus index and many databases was done. The result of this review is to give an overview of the role of Calcium Hydroxide in dentistry.
