Morphometric analysis of foot outlines is a classic means of orthopaedic diagnosis. In forensics and physical anthropology, it is commonly used for the estimation of stature and body mass. The analysis of normal and pathological differences in human foot morphology is indispensable to various biomedical specialities, including orthopaedics, orthotic designs, sports sciences, forensics, ergonomics, anthropology etc. The aim of this study is to analyse the morphometric study of foot among the adult population. This study was conducted among 50 adults where 25 females and 25 males aged between 18 to 25 years. Right foot outlines of all the 50 subjects were taken using classic and geometric morphometric methods. By measuring the foot length and breadth, the foot index was calculated. The data obtained are statistically analysed. Both foot size and foot outline shape are sexually dimorphic. The foot length of males was found to be 25.2 cm and for females was 23.3 cm. The foot width of males was observed as 9.1 cm and females was 8.25 cm. The foot index of males was found to be 36.1 cm and for females was 35.2 cm. Hence the foot length, foot breadth, heel breadth and foot index was higher for males than females comparatively. In this study, we observed foot arch types like 10 flat foot, 26 normal foot, 10 High foot and 4 Very high foot. Though the foot index of male was higher than the female, the significant variation of foot outlines between the male and female is very less. From the study, it has been concluded that the foot morphometry acts as a baseline in multidisciplinary fields like forensic, podiatry etc.. This morphometric study has to be carried out among a large number of adults to get the significant variation.
