A Typodont is an educational tool for dental students, allowing them to practice certain dental procedures on the plastic teeth of a model before actually performing the procedures on live patients. Newer Simulation based training for dental students is being adopted in numerous dental schools. This survey has been taken to evaluate the opinion of the dental practitioners on the efficiency of typodont practice in pre-clinical dentistry. It is a questionnaire based study conducted with a batch of 100 dental students. The collected data was analysed and presented statistically as graphs. Around 97% of the dental students were aware of typodonts. Some of the advantages of typodonts were easy replaceability and standardization. About 68% of the students were aware of various simulation training methods and among them, the idea of Virtual Reality and Robotic digital manikins seemed to be more popular. From the data collected through the survey we find that the dental students had split opinions on whether one’s work on typodonts can be used to predict their work on live patients. Almost 95% of them agreed on upgrading to more advanced training methods than typodont mounted manikins.
