Pterion is an important anatomical feature that is used in neurosurgical procedures. Pterion is of scientific, radiological and surgical importance during burr-hole operations. The main aim of the present study is to analyse morphometrically about the pterion for neurosurgical procedures. The present study was conducted on 20 dry human skulls in which the morphology of pterion was found based on Murphy’s classification. Distance from the centre of pterion to the zygomatic arch and to frontozygomatic suture was measured. The sphenoparietal pattern was the most observed pattern both on the right and left side of the skull .From the centre of the pterion to zygomatic arch the S.D. was 0.5108041 on the right side and on the left side was 0.4063868 where it is more observed on the right side. From the centre of the pterion to frontozygomatic suture the S.D. was 0.2971974 on the right side and 0.3980938 on the left side compared to the right.the sphenoparietal pattern was the most observed and the both the parameters are observed more on the right side of the skull and provide information for neurosurgeries in the pterion and reduce the complications in keyhole surgeries of the brain.
