Basti Karma is one of the prime treatment modality with not only curative effect but also preventive and promotive action. Different types and forms of Basti yoga are mentioned with their specific indications and Dosage forms. InliteraturesDwadash prasruta is said to be Uttam Matra (maximum dose) of Basti. Vatarakta is one of the articular diseases, which is characterized by severe pain, tenderness, inflammation and burning sensation in the affected joints. It is Vata pradhanVyadhi and Rakta as main Dushya. In the area of joint disease management still remains to be elusive. Here the study has been taken on Ardhmatrik basti as its Matra is half than that of other Basti described in classics. The Clinical study was done in Single Group design where 20 patients having Vatarakta and in the age group of 18 to 70 years and who were fit for Basti Karmahas been selected for the study. Ethical clearance was obtained from Institutional ethical committee and the trail has been registered in Clinical Trial Registry of India. The treatment has been given for 15 days in each subject and in statistical analysis the therapy has shown significant result in all the assessment parameters for the Basti Karma and subjective and objective assessments parameters of Vatarakta.
