Efficiency of Ficus carica Latex in therapy of Leishmania tropica In Patients

Abstract: Aimed: This study to evaluate the efficincy of Ficus carica Latex extraction on Leishmania tropica parasite in the patients, were occurred in the duration from January 2020 to August 2020 in Al-najaf city. Methods: 45 patients infected with L.tropica were examined on the basis of clinical appearance and histopathology test, divided to three groups. First group treated directly exposure by a clean and sterile piece of gauze on lesion with latex of Ficus carica with concentration 250 µg / ml from body weight for 25 days and once a day, Two group treated parasite directly exposure by a clean and sterile piece of gauze on lesion with latex of F.carica with concentration 500 µg / ml for 25 days and once a day and Three group treated only intralesional sodium Stibogluconate when dose 20 mg / kg for 28 days, with follower response to treatment after 4th and 9th weeks even completion healing. Results: In the end of treatment period showed that latex of Ficus carica when concentration 500µg/ml were more therapeutic effect in 9th weeks was 11 (85.9%) complete healing compared with effect of injection only sodium stibogluconate. Conclusions: concluded that Ficus carica Latex extraction show promised as antilieshmanealefficiency in patients compared with the drug used this study and without side effects.
