Author: KHANSAA ALBAROODI
Abstract: Background: Diabetes mellitus is a chronic progressive disease, smoking can accelerate its progression by increasing risk for morbidity due to diabetes complications. guidelines listed smoking cessation advice as one of its non-pharmacological recommendations to be addressed to patients with diabetes. Objective: This study investigates the delivery and quality outcomes of smoking cessation advice. Method: This review searched for these peer-reviewed articles identified from PubMed, Google, and Google Scholar. Results: specific advice, without doubt, increase the quitting rate or at least decrease the number of cigarettes smoked but keep quitting needs patients follow up. Conclusion: health care providers should encourage to highlight smoking cessation importance to their patients (especially those with diabetes) steadily and strongly; also future clinical interventions would have high importance.
