Evaluation of Different Prepared Binary Systems for Different Pharmaceutical Applications

Author: OMAR Y.MADY, AHMED A.DONIA, ESMAT ZEIN EL-DEEN, SOAAD AHMED
Abstract: In the tablet pharmaceutical technology, the use of matrix represents the main part in the formulation for different purposes. Now, the pharmaceutical binary or ternary systems have increased the interest. This work aimed to create new binary waxy matrices for each pharmaceutical application purposes, which could be applied in different technology research centers and industries. Different matrices were mixed as physical mixtures at different weight ratios and melted to get clear melt liquids and then cool to have new matrices. The physico-chemical properties of the prepared binary systems studied in comparing with its pure components. The tests selected based on the preformulation data required for each substance used in the formulation. The results showed that, the presence of the pure components of the different prepared binary systems in their chemical entity and their different entrapment mechanisms depending on the ratios. The physico-chemical properties of the prepared matrices are changed and depend on the ratio of the pure components suggesting the prepared matrices as ternary system with a drug for special technological aspect. The entrapment of a drug in the selected binary system as a ternary system matrix for a certain formulation purpose as a dosage form means using the advantages of ternary system to solve the drug and dosage form problems. In addition, the use of matrices in the formulation process reduce the production steps and cost with achieve the required aim of the dosage form. Application of the results obtained would be the subject of the next article.
