Chronic Kidney disease is a medical condition in which the fails to eliminate the adequate amount of toxins and waste products from the blood. The main aim of the study is to establish the risk factors, compare the clinical characteristics and outcomes of CKD in a tertiary care hospital, Salem. Based on the study population, 33 % were female and 67 % were male patients with an average age of 61.66±11.18. The number of days of hospitalization is increased in patients with ESRD. The major co-morbid condition observed in this study were hypertension and diabetes mellitus. The mean range of blood urea, serum creatinine, eGFR before treatment were found to be 32.52 ± 6.96 mg/dl, 5.69 ± 2.91mg/dl, and 16.5 ± 10.03 mg/dl. Whereas, the mean range of blood urea, serum creatinine, eGFR after treatment were found to be 12.87 ± 3.84 mg/dl, 1.78 ± 0.40 mg/dl, and 40.92 ± 16.46 mg/dl. Therefore it may be concluded that health research requires newer techniques for early detection and quicker prevention of complications that arise from the kidney.
