This retrospective study was performed to identify the organisms and the sensitivity patterns of antibiotics in children with Urinary Tract Infections. It was conducted in a Tertiary care hospital of Salem district, Tamil Nadu in a sample size of 150 children in the age group of 0-14 in both genders. In this study, female children (57.3%) were mostly affected by Urinary Tract Infection. Children in the age group of 1 month to 2 years (45.33%) were mostly affected. The most prevalent organism isolated was E. coli (74.66%). Most of the children presented with complaints of fever along with urinary symptoms (35%) which included burning micturition, abdominal pain, vomiting, etc. Usually, amikacin was administered to these children (25.33%). The majority of these children were prescribed single antibiotic (68%). Intravenous administration was the common dosage form of the prescribed antibiotics (76%). More than half of the children were hospitalized for 4-6 days (71%). E. coli showed high sensitivity to aminoglycosides (amikacin and gentamicin), cephalosporins (ceftriaxone and cefotaxime).
