Pumpkin seed oil (PSO) has been known to contain some bioactive compounds such as phenolics, sterols, carotenoids, and tocopherols with beneficial effects to human health including antioxidants, reduced postprandial glycemic, improves urinary dysfunction in human overactive bladder, wound healing, alleviation of diabetes mellitus, antihypertensive and cardio protective effects, cell growth inhibition of cancer cells and hyperplastic. PSO can be obtained from different extraction methods including mechanical pressing, solvent extraction, ultrasound-assisted extraction, supercritical CO2, and microwave-assisted aqueous enzymatic extraction, as a consequence, PSO has a slight difference in term of physico-chemical properties. Pumpkin seeds oil belongs to high price value edible oil groups; hence PSO can be blended with other vegetable oils that may have a lower price; therefore analytical method capable of detecting the adulteration practice is highly required. This review article highlighted the several parameters to be understanding in field of natural product development and analysis.
