Defective ground hexagonal patch for Biomedical ap-plications.

Author: MANJULATHA TELKAPALLI, DR. K.CH. SRI KAVYA
Abstract: The objective of this paper is to optimize the performance of Hexagonal patch antenna for biomedical applications. Conventional ground structure Hexagonal patch is designed, simulated and fabricated at biomedical frequency band. For the purpose of size reduction conventional ground is replaced with different defective ground structures. Circular and hexagonal ring shaped defective ground structures are introduced on to conventional ground structure. Conventional ground structure is simulated and fabricated. Defective ground structures are simulated and analyzed using HFSS .Simulated results of both the conventional ground and the defective ground structures are compared and analysed.Comparision results are helpful in optimizing the performance of antenna for biomedical applications.
Keyword: Microstrip Patch antenna, ISM band, Bio-Medical application, Hexagonal patch, Defective Ground structures (DGS).
