This study aims to identify and compare water quality level in downstream and upstream areas of Behrang Forest Reserve catchment. Water samples were collected from seven sampling stations located in downstream areas while eight sampling stations located in upstream areas. Assessment of water quality levels were based on the classification of National Water Quality Interim Standard (INWQS) and Water Quality Index (WQI) from Malaysia Department of Environment. Overall, the results showed that the downstream and upstream water quality has significant difference. Water quality in downstream areas were mainly in Class II due to human activities while water quality in upstream areas were classified as Class I, which categorised as clean. Hopefully, this findings can support the Perak Municipal Council in controlling human activities which can cause the declination of water quality in downstream areas.
