Medicinal plants are a rich source of antimicrobial agents and specific to many highly effective treatments in the field of traditional medicine. Therefore, the Conocarpus lancifolius plant as a species of the Combretaceae family possesses many medicinal benefits in the treatment of anemia, inflammation, diarrhea, eye infections, diabetes, fever, and head. Bleeding As well as its use in the treatment of sexual gonorrhea and infections of the reproductive system. The present study aims to estimate the antibacterial activity of Conocarpus lancifolius leaves extracts on tested against eight pathogenic bacteria isolated which they were Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis, Streptococcus mutans, E. coli, Proteus mirabilis, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Bacillus subtilis, and Micrococcus leuteus. The study began with the collection of Conocarpus lancifolius leaves in December 2019from the trees in the college of education for women, University of Thi-Qar. The maceration method was used to prepare the aqueous extract, while the Soxhlet apparatus was used to prepare the methanolic extract. The results of the phytochemical test showed the presence of Flavonoids, Alkaloids, Saponins, Tannins, Steroids &Triterpenoids Cardiac glycoside, and Anthraquinones. In the Conocarpus lancifolius leaves extracts, Agar well diffusion method was employed to determine the antibacterial activity. a statistical test was performed between different concentrations at 0.01 level of probability, for aqueous extract, as seen in shows that the concentration 100 mg/ml was the highest effect on Staphylococcus aureus with inhibition zone 21.00 ± 0.87 mm, while the lowest effect was seen on the inhibition zone of Micrococcus leuteus in same concentration was (15.17 ± 0.76 mm) respectively with a significant difference (P<0.01). for methanolic extract, the best effect was seen on Staphylococcus aureuswith the inhibition zone ( 22.67 ± 1.53mm) in concentration(100 mg/ml) respectively with a significant difference of (P<0.01), while the lowest effect was seen on Micrococcus leuteus with inhibition zone (17.00 ± 1.00 mm) respectively in concentrations (100mg/ml) with a significant difference (P<0.01). This study showed that the methanolic extract of Conocarpus lancifolius leaves have the best effect than the aqueous extract due to the higher concentration of compounds such as tannins, flavonoids, and alkaloids. This study showed the largest MIC and MBC value for aqueous extract leaves was 50 mg/ml 75 mg/ml respectively, and the least MIC and MBC value was 12.5 mg/ml, and 25 mg/ml respectively. This study showed the largest MIC and MBC value for methanol extract of leaves was 25 mg/ml and 50 mg/ml respectively, and the least MIC and MBC value was 6.25mg/ml and 12.5mg/ml respectively.
